In 2016 The Legion will commemorate the 90th Anniversary as a Veterans and community service organization. Due to the aging of our Veterans and membership, unfortunately many of our dedicated and committed members may not be with us for our 100th Anniversary. With this in mind, your Ritual and Awards Committee introduced a 90th Royal Canadian Anniversary Commemorative Medal which received unanimous support from the members of Dominion Executive Council.
The ribbon design of this medal will include our Legion colours along with the colours of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. In 2016 this well-known regiment will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of their involvement in the battle of Beaumont-Hamel during WWI and their colours are being added as a tribute to the regiment.
The Commemorative Medal may be worn as of June, 2015 on full Legion dress or formal Legion dress on the right breast in order of precedence. As stated in Section 121 of our Ritual, Awards and Protocol Manual, the order of precedence for this Anniversary medal would be to the left of a Branch Past Office medal or other Anniversary and Commemorative Medals.
This Commemorative Medal is being made available to ALL members of the Royal Canadian Legion for wear on Legion dress through our Supply Department in early 2015.
You are encouraged to obtain a 90th Anniversary Commemorative Medal through our Branch to commemorate this historical event within the Royal Canadian Legion.
